What if dating didn't start with a swipe?
That was the starting question a coworker and I were randomly discussing in 2022. We were talking about dating, meeting people, and how different it might feel if there were more spaces for singles to actually connect.
“What would happen if we created a fun space for singles to meet?”
People are craving connection, but the way we're currently trying to date often doesn't leave much room to actually connect. So I decided to create the room.
Put a bunch of singles around a table playing a game. Get them competing on a kickball field. Teach them how to salsa. Take them camping. Send them on a blind date to a concert. Sit them down for intentional one on one conversation. Give them something to laugh about. Suddenly, the pressure of “I need to find someone” starts to disappear and people start being themselves.
They start talking. They start laughing. They start noticing the person sitting across from them instead of wondering whether they’ll swipe right.
Social Singles isn’t about forcing a love story or promising that everyone who walks through the door will meet their future spouse. It’s about creating opportunities for something real to happen.
I believe people are worthy of feeling seen, known, and connected. I want Social Singles to be the kind of community where you can walk in not knowing a soul and walk out feeling like you found a few people you’re glad you met.
Along the way, those little moments have added up to something pretty incredible.
Friendships have formed. Kickball teams have started. Guys’ nights have become monthly traditions. First dates have turned into many more. Couples have blossomed. And yes, three weddings have come from Social Singles.
There’s something really special about putting a bunch of strangers in the same room and watching them slowly become familiar faces, friends, dates, and sometimes something more.
When I’m not planning Social Singles events or working in the nonprofit world, you can probably find me cheering on the Thunder, traveling somewhere new, trying a new local restaurant, or on a dance floor.
But really, I just love people.
And I love creating spaces where they can find each other.
